The table of contents lists the chapters and other main parts of the book.  It is helpful because it gives you a general idea about the book so you know which chapters apply to your research.  Below is an example from a book about the moon.

Most non-fiction books have an index.  Like a table of contents, it lists the books contents and relevant page numbers, but in much more detail.  It presents the topics in alphabetical order to help your search.  Below is an example from a health book.

My sun and elephant.

Sun

The sun comes up like a strong like an elephant.  

It stay still like a statue looking at the open world.

The sun starts to move on downwards

like an elephant going down for a sleep.

My learning intention was about fractions.
My activity was Fraction of the Sea. It is for 4 players but I was playing with 2 players. They were San Tat and Wiremu.
It was easy because I know my fractions.
